It was half-way decent before it was given the hatchet job it received in Congress. In order to get it passed compromises were made that look like bad judgments to us now. Would it have been better not to pass it at all?

Had Obama kicked Sumner to the curb sooner and invited in Volcker, Krugman, Stiglitz and Binder to the White House, he might have advocated for a stronger stimulus package with tougher financial reform.

What I hope for this president is that he will learn from his mistakes.Bush never did.In fact, he never admitted that he had made any.

I also hope that the rabid opposition he has faced from right-wing opponents will be toned-down by their preferred media machine at Fox or at least met with strong opposition from media that wants him to do a better job and is willing to enable him by offering fair and unbiased coverage.

As Jonathan Alter said in his book:"He is still the same driven, smart, psychologically balanced leader we saw in the campaign". Let's hope his is also ready to wonder outside his comfort zone to listen to progressive voices that really do want him to succeed. Not only for the country's sake but his presidency's sake as well.
