  •  Many wonder how I can have lived for so long on (17+ / 0-)

part time work. Living simply is the answer. No credit cards. No cable TV. Small but lovely apartment, 400 sq ft. My vehicle is a 94, gets 35 mpg, and runs great. Eat simple nutritious diet, & walk every day with my dogs. Nice wild place to walk. Which keeps me healthy & happy.

Work less, rest more, & more time to do exactly what I like. Shop less. Cook more. Also make more of what I need. Duck tape is one of the greatest inventions ever!

Hubby and I work from home these days.   We are living simply, shop locally, and don't have credit cards.

The budget buster for us is our health insurance premium.  I wish our nation had a national health care system.  Many artists/crafters, part-time workers, and freelancers would so benefit by a better (and less expensive) system.

Also, based on our own experience and the questions of many other artists is what gets lost in the health care debate: many people would like to follow their dreams and do more creative work (and live more simply), but feel stymied by the cost of paying for their own health insurance.
