That negates a lot of the tricks I do, like buying a chicken and getting lots of meals out of it by boiling it and having a gallon of broth and a gallon bag of picked shredded chicken meat to go, four ounces at a time, into soups, stews, noodles, etc.

If you don't have the ability to handle quantity cooking, there's no WAY you can make it last the month.

When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.

    •  I know... it does make a huge difference (3+ / 0-)

if you don't have the ability to handle quantity.  I cook
with a lot of dried beans too.  Beans have tons of protein.
Mix them into salads and soups.  I love bean salad so I
have that for lunch a lot.
