As an active participant in the HCR debates here and elsewhere, there was and is a strong emphasis on improvements in quality care, research and evidence based medicine.

DKos progressives were adamant in advocating for all the lesser known provisions of PPACA that fund and advance initiatives to improve the quality of care and discourage the practice of defensive medicine.  In fact, those points were at the core of arguments against GOP claims of "death panels".

Many of us DKos health care activists chose to support the flawed version of PPACA advanced by the WH and conservative Dems (once we realized the push for private insurance subsidies was inevitable) simply because we supported the substantive changes in the act that will improve quality and reduce costs.

Blaming victims doesn't get us anywhere.
