I had scheduled my dog to get his teeth cleaned as the doctor had recommended and ended up getting some bad news. As a precaution, they run some blood tests to be sure that the animal is in good health and I learned that my Bisquit has some sort of liver disease and given that he is 15 years old it's probably cancer.

After discussing the possibilities and prognosis with the vet, I decided that we would just do what we could to make his last days the best possible. She put him on this medication that may help his liver to fight whatever it is along with a course of antibiotics. I also changed his diet to one that's much higher in protein than what he has always gotten.

He's sleeps a lot, but still likes to get out with me for a walk and he loves the new diet and I guess that's about all I can do.

At any rate, I've really been thinking about how this will end and I think I have a pretty good idea of how you must feel. I know that when the time comes it will be very, very hard for me just like it was when I lost my last dog.
