    These are the election popular vote margins going back 40 years. Nixon won handily in 1972, and Reagan was still off 5 points with his own landslide in 1984 from Nixon's numbers, but no one discounts that was a landslide either.

    Looking at those totals, the word 'only' seems to diminish what even Bush Sr. liked to refer to as his 'mandate' when he obviously should have been working toward a more balanced method of governance. But, we're talking about Republicans who only worry about power and control and not proper Governance of the country.

    Bush Jr.'s 'mandate' percentages from the popular vote are laughable. It does not look like much of a mandate there but he said he had one. Typical for the Shrub.
