    I'm taking over the world!

Yours is the standard response to  straight-forward criticism.

What sounds to you like "derogatory and cynical" criticism is actually just me providing my honest opinion.

As for what my prescription is for what ails us, I like the idea of acting locally and building change in communities. That includes electing good people locally, akin to what Howard Dean wanted to do when he was at the DNC: building a "bench" of candidates locally who could move on and make change in the bigger picture.

    •  It kinda sounds like that is what the diarist (2+ / 0-)

      is doing....

the idea of acting locally and building change in communities.
And it sounds as if you have some preconceptions about communities and methods for building them that might be a bit different from yours?

I'm looking forward to the diarist's next installment on this.

that the manner in which you expressed your opinion, whether intentionally or not, did not elicit dialog until others cut through the tone and prodded you to express your opinion in more detail, to expose the meat about which discussion could occur.

This is not an attack, but a recommendation based upon how your earlier comments have been received in this diary in comparison with the much more congenial dialog that occurred in response to a better style 2 posts up in this thread.

The bourgeoisie had better watch out for me, all throughout this so called nation. We don't want your filthy money, we don't need your innocent bloodshed, we just want to end your world. ~H.R.

This:  "As for what my prescription is for what ails us, I like the idea of acting locally and building change in communities."  This is strong common ground, and this is really helpful.

Underneath the disagreements over tactics, it sounds as if there's wider agreement on goals.

"Minus two votes for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.
