when they grasp at straws they don't care if they work.

The same could be said of dams and nuclear plants. They don't care about facts only $$$$ and how to keep raking it in.

Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance.

I've been warning of this for over a year now. - http://tinyurl.com/... - Let's be clear. The industry did this to itself. No one else.

and that tiny url takes you to a Yahoo News article on the glut of natural gas and its adverse effect on oil-and-gas companies' stock prices.
he glut has benefited businesses and homeowners that use natural gas. But with natural gas prices at a 10-year low — and falling — companies that produce the fuel are becoming victims of their drilling successes. Their stock prices are falling in anticipation of declining profits and scaled-back growth plans.

Some of the nation's biggest natural gas producers, including Chesapeake Energy, ConocoPhillips and Encana Corp., have announced plans to slow down.

"They've gotten way ahead of themselves, and winter got way ahead of them too," says Jen Snyder, head of North American gas for the research firm Wood Mackenzie. "There hasn't been enough demand to use up all the supply being pushed into the market."

you can destroy demand by overdoing supply. Natural gas is tougher to speculate on than gasoline.

In  a diary right here on DK in the last 24 hoursit's been pointed out that the US has bypassed China as the foremost producer of green renewable energy. Yay ! Now we have to find ways to USE that power near where it's made, or get it to where it can be used.

As the Austin paper notes,  The Texas PUC had to scrap plans for a major transmission line in 2010, with plans to redraw the route, announced January 7 of this year, still considered not final.
The fight continues and these people are in the forefront:

(Honestly, I find the talking turkey an ironic icon for the group)

Do they really want us not to be able to get off oil, gas, and wars?
My inclination is that they do, or have been duped into such a stand.

Why? If I were a conspiracy nut I'd think the really outrageous profits available from $5 gas and equally-inflated heating oil and diesel fuels might be to blame -- because if those electric lines are built, the future will be cleaner, greener, and have cheaper power such that we might see hybrid vehicles overtaking petrofuels, if not outright electric trucks and cars taking over the roadways.

Imagine an Interstate with no noise or fumes.
