    This fight was won once, many decades ago. Even abortion, which is the most "controversial" of the issues involved, has had majority support for a long time. The GOP (thanks, Santorum) started talking about women's health, lumping abortion, birth control and basic preventative together (again, thanks, Santorum). They're now realizing something that Mitt Romney probably knew from the start: They can't win on these issues.

    So if the republicans can't win on the social issues, how can they win? It seems that Karl Rove (with the help of Sandra Day O'Connor) managed to get Bush 8 years, and then broke it.

    Liberalism will always win the social issues over a long time period. Look back to the social issues that were big 200 years ago, or 100 years ago, or 50 years ago, ... It's called progress.
