  •  Governor Bev Perdue in NC (4+ / 0-)

did an ad against Amendment 1. It goes to the voters on May 8. (It would ban legal recognition of any relationships in the state except marriage between a man and a woman.)  Scott has written a lot about it. She has tweeted about it and released statements in the past but the ad is new and awesome.

Also in case you missed it earlier, at Prop 8 Trial Tracker we have a guest post up from Tara Borelli of Lambda Legal, lead counsel for the new marriage equality case in Nevada.

Great to have her in the fight. What do the current poll numbers look like?

        It's odd.

A recent Elon poll says 60% oppose the amendment, but a recent PPP poll says 58% support the amendment while 38% oppose. But that same poll also says that so many people don't know what the amendment does that when they're informed, the amendment actually fails narrowly.

    •  A lot of anti-amendment signs in Durham (1+ / 0-)

got vandalized this week.  The city of Durham is very progressive, and there's a gratifyingly large number of anti-one signs around.  Apparently, that pissed someone off.  Some nice person in my neighborhood repaired the signs on a nearby major street crossing - taped a hand-lettered 'Against' over where the vandal had spray-painted it out.

I've heard from people who have been active in politics here for a long time that there's a lot more of this sort of thing happening this year than has been the case before.  No big surprise, unfortunately.
