      sure doesnt add up to 40 million

      •  Here's the math: I will try to use 2nd grade math (0+ / 0-)

        so you might be able to get it:

        BLS non-institutional population:  242,000
        Total population:  313,000,000
        Labor Force:  154,000,000
        not in labor force:  88,000,000
        under 16 as of 2010 census:  66,000,000

        So, labor force + not in labor force + under 16 = Total pop (except prisons, institutionalized, and military)

        Interestingly, if we add them up. we get:

        154MM + 88MM + 66MM = 308MM
        Then if we add in the institutionalized that you quoted above we get:

        308MM + 5.1MM = 313MM

        And would you look at that, the number adds up almost exactly to the total population.  Who would have ever thought that?  Seriously, take your faked moon landing, empty Fort Knox, and other conspiracy theories elsewhere.  And on your way there, please stop by the second grade and ask for some math tutoring.
