devastating, in a way, since I agree with you that she clearly meant it the way you're perceiving it.  However, there was a lot of resentment and anger in her phrasing, which is magnificently unhelpful.  Why she choose to be so petulant is a complete mystery.

    •  She doesn't really represent anyone (6+ / 0-)

And I do agree with you that petulance is never helpful. I'm often stymied as to why someone is considered a "pundit" on an issue, and why the administration has to respond to her rather than simply say "She does not represent anyone but herself."

      •  I think, technically, you're (0+ / 0-)

right, but she said this on some news show, right?, and she's in some way or form in opposition to Romney which by default makes her an Obama surrogate.    I mean, that's sort of how I taker her, much less a rabid Repube.

The various cable shows, in their effort to keep someone talking all day, hire whomever is handy. I'm not criticising Rosen, just saying that the campaign would have no say on whom the cable channel hired.

Look at the folks that Faux calls "Democrats" and hires to create the effect of "fair and balanced" on their talk shows.

"Enemy of my enemy" doesn't make her a rep of the administration. That said, I think that her awkward statement wasn't totally wrong, as per my other comments above.

Rosen is a Villager who trades on creating sharp, clever barbs designed to "win the news cycle." It's how she gets to "pundit" another day.

The reason she has been given a "yellow card" in this kerfuffle is that the Right Wing Noise Machine owns the referees, too.

Rosen made the pundit class equivalent of spilling her glass of Merlot at a cocktail party, and you want her arrested for wanton destruction of private property.

I learned a long time ago that to be considered a surrogate for a candidate requires strong integration into the campaign.  Very few people are official campaign surrogates.  Hillary Rosen most certainly is NOT a surrogate.

She was on Faux news.  The usual Faux bullshit of bringing in a "token Democrat" to beat on.  For all I know, she was a ringer used to setup this Faux outrage.
