I'm saying that people who think GZ's myspace account is evidence of him being racist are barking up the wrong tree, and probably don't understand the context.

I don't think you read my post really.  I'm not saying "its OK" if he chose a racist slur as his myspace moniker.  I'm saying that he probably did not choose it as a slur, but rather as something he wanted to identify with.  That he was trying to use the n-word about himself in the same spirit that "actual" Black Hip-Hop people use it about themselves.

My point about him probably not having been very active with his myspace account was more directed at the people who said "I can't believe he's still using MySpace these days!"

I was not arguing "It's ok if he had a racist name for his myspace account, because it was probably from a long time ago."

      but you first said:

realistically, my guess is that he created his myspace account a long time ago, and his user name was not so much meant as a racist slur, but more of a "gangsta wannabe" kind of thing.
      and you now say:

and either way, that's quite a leap, as George Zimmerman was known to have issues with "suspicious" black people, particularly young black males, even children ages 7-9, whom he considered "suspicious" enough to report to 911 some 45 or 46 times over the course of a year.

you are free to believe whatever you like, but i don't believe a person uses racial slurs to "identify with" a profile he so obviously considered "suspicious," "assholes" who "always get away," and certainly, could not possible have any right to be in a community where Zimmerman lived.

      from court affadavit filed yesterday:

Prosecutors say it was a more than just a chance encounter that ended badly for Zimmerman and worse for Trayvon Martin, the unarmed 17-year-old he killed.

The probable-cause affidavit filed Thursday by two veteran investigators for the special prosecutor handling the case accuses Zimmerman of “profiling”the boy and assuming him to be a criminal.

      •  You really don't get it. (0+ / 0-)

My guess is that GZ murdered TM.

My guess is that he is racist.

I don't think his myspace moniker is evidence of either of those things.

I think you don't understand my point because you don't understand myspace, urban youth culture, or complexity.

This is a waste of both of our time.

Let's elect more and better Democrats!
