I went to a community college in Woodland Hills, CA. I graduated in 1969. It cost $6.50/semester. At that time community colleges were part of the city school system (therefore, free), and we just paid some administrative cost. I then went to Cal State, Northridge and paid $175/semester. I eventually graduated from New Mexico State Univ in 1987 and paid around $500/semester. I took out student loans at NMSU totaling $5,500 over 2 years, and worked a work/study job 20 hours/week. Last I heard, CA universities were raising tuition by 32%. Rep Foxx doesn't read newspapers, or she's just a typical mean-spirited right-wing creep.

NMSU tuition this year is $2,913/semester (in-state, out of state exceeds $9,000), and I just read that the regents had approved a 3% increase for next year.
