that i think this will be a slam dunk for the prosecution? everything zimmerman did that night displayed recklessness and depraved indifference to human life.

he's going to say his self-defense was so great he needed to use a gun. yet there was no trip to the ER in an ambulance.  that's it right there, that's the reckless disregard for human life right there.  he did not need a gun to defend himself from trayvon and the reason we know that is because he did not sustain the sort of injury requiring the need to take someone's life with a gun.

everything else you just fill in around that, really.  the witnesses who will say they saw him on top.  trayvon's screams for help.  disregarding his neighborhood watch training and carrying a gun.  getting out of his suv when told he was not required he do so.  the girlfriend who will testify that trayvon was freaked by z following him.  all this is recklessness and depraved indifference to life.

corey wilol have a team, but she'll clearly be the lead here: frankly, i think this will make her a big star so she'll be front an d center.  (by saying this, i don't mean to disparage her very real concern for the victims of this tragedy.  i'm just acknowledging political realities.)

i agree with you about wolfinger of course, but it was formally stated that he stepped down from this investigation as a a matter of conflict of interest, you know.  but i never read anywhere where they said what that conflict was.  only that that sort of thing was very common.

but i don't think it's within corey's charge  to do anything right now but focus on murder2 and see it prosecuted.  i'm thinking that she very rightfully sees that keeping it simple she will win the case, and so will not get bogged down in any sideshows.  wolfinger is a sideshow for the purposes of meting out justice in this case.  zimmerman's presumed racism is a sideshow here for purposes of convicting him on murder2: that's why she went with the 'effing punks' version of z's 911 exclamation in the affidavit, when we all know it was not the word 'punks'.   she's already streamlining this case down to the essentials  needed to establish a pattern for murder2.  it's really smart, i think, what she's done.  she's already started to minimise any distortion of the jury's perceptions by popular opinion and the media.

and where everyone else is saying 'oh he may walk' or 'it will be a hung jury' or 'they don't have any hard evidence' yadda yadda yadda, i'm seeing it very differently from most people.i'm saying once the trial is underway, it will not drag on, the jury will quickly reach their decision to convict, and that will be that: zimmerman will appeal but because she will have kept it all so pared down to the essentials that there will be nothing for george to stand on to appeal.
