  •  Contact info for Fox's office here... (32+ / 0-)

Since Fox is making a media tour spewing her disinformation, lies, and ignorance, IMHO it's past time to contact her office(s)...

    Fox's DC phone number:  Phone: (202) 225-2071

North Carolina District Offices:  Clemmons, N.C. 27012
    Phone: (336) 778-0211
    Toll Free: 1-(866) 677-8968

    Boone, N.C. 28607
    Phone: (828) 265-0240

...and ask her staff to explain why the "Rep." doesn't know that:

    1.  College costs have risen nearly three times the cost of living.

.."College tuition continues to outpace family income and the price of other necessities, such as medical care, food and housing...

    2.  Many college students are working two to three part-times jobs because:

Over the past 30 years, the average cost of college tuition, fees, and room and board has increased nearly 100%...(but) Median household income...has risen a mere 18% over that same period....
    3.  Surging college costs price out middle class..
The crux of the problem: Tuition and fees at public universities, according to the College Board, have surged almost 130% over the last 20 years -- while middle class incomes have stagnated.

...Maybe people would like to call the Representative's offices and ask her staff why the representative doesn't know these things--and ask why she is so out of touch with the facts-- Or if she does know these things, why is she going on television and lying about the realities of the affordability of college for the non-wealthy?

To harass the little volunteer phone-answerer?  Nothing anyone here sez to or about Ms Foxx would alter her behavior, on the contrary, these thugs revel in our disapproval...

No reason whatsoever to waste a moment of time talking to her or her organization.

      •  Maybe to make an elected "representative" aware... (7+ / 0-)

that she can't just spew lies with total impunity?  Maybe to educate her or her staff?

Maybe because as a citizen in a democracy complaining among ourselves about our representatives' failures to represent their constituents will make little to no difference, while taking our factual disagreements directly to those representatives via their staff has at least a tiny possibility of making someone--if only a staff volunteer--see that the representative is wrong.

But, it is a free country and we are all entitled to our opinions and to making our own decisions about whether or not we want to contact our elected public servants.

        •  Think about it. What is actually gained? (0+ / 0-)

I'm all for publicizing Foxx's idiocy, but talking to her, or her staff, is a complete waste of time and effort.

I'm not saying Do Nothing, I'm saying talking to Virginia Foxx is like talking to a kitchen table...

Organizing in her district, on the other hand....

          •  One doesn't know until one tries... (4+ / 0-)

Also, I'm not saying that is the only thing to do, either.  In addition to calling her office, contacting state and local newspapers and reporters, citing what Foxx's lies, and then telling them the facts--and asking them why they are not reporting what Foxx is saying, and then reporting what the facts really are can't hurt.

Yes, of course organizing her district is vital.  And along with that, getting the facts out about Foxx's lies and how they hurt the economic lives of her constituents can't hurt.

      •  Oh come on, (7+ / 0-)

she's a representative of the public.  She should hear from the public.  Even if you don't live in her district, her actions affect us all.

Maybe the "little volunteer phone-answerer" will get some new information that will inform his/her point of view.

The bad guys are winning because they've been "harassing" public officials for 50 years, now.  There are dozens of well paid organizations, from Heritage to ALEC, who work full time presenting their point of view to the public and to elected officials.

The large increase in college costs and the low increase in median income indicate a gross failure of government, starting when Reagan was elected in 1980.
