Women who need welfare often don't have a decent resume to pass around. What kind of dignity is there in a minimum wage job (or often less)? Does Mitt think a stay-at-home mom with no wardrobe, no real support system, maybe a high school diploma, can just walk into ING or Home Depot and land a job in their accounting departments?  Even as a receptionist...

I know the kind of jobs available.  Waiting on obnoxious clientele at bars. Scraping the grill after a day of short order cooking. Washing down public restrooms.

    Some dignity.

    •  Yes, Mitt really does think this, I'm sure. (1+ / 0-)

Yes.  There is no doubt in my mind that he does.

    •  A young woman who has a child is apparently (0+ / 0-)

an evil drain of our "entitlement" system (for fucks sake, I hate that term), so she must be demonized.

The reality is this (and since it is reality, the gop will never go near it) a young woman with little in the way of education or work skills will end up working a $9-10/hr job.

The day care for her child, or children, would run say $50/day. Thats $250/wk. Wages would be Im guessing around $300/wk after taxes, $400/wk before taxes.

After working 40 hours and paying for daycare, the young mother brings home $50. How could she pay for housing, food, etc?

And another fact is that if this woman makes a certian amount of money from employment, she and her child lose ALL government assistance.

Lets be real. What we are discussing is dog whistles. Its the lazy people of color who the gop is talking about. Too bad they are too cowardly to come right out and say it.
