  •  Ouch! I confess that little blonde girl... (6+ / 0-)

...reminds me of me.  When I was 5, we lived high up the SE side of Mt Tamalpais.  I was very romantic.  I asked my father to build a teepee for me.  He did, and I slept in it.  I really felt I was an indian.

I would have dreams of being an indian.  When I was a bit older I had a recurring dream of fleeing from the white invaders in the Sierras with a wise woman and my brother.  She taught us to be quiet and preserve our energy.

So I, a little blonde girl whose ancestry was from northern Finland, play acted that I was an indian.  I confess.  But I cannot apologize.  I didn't know any better, and it is some of the best memories of my life.   And all my life I have wanted to learn more and more about indigenous peoples. I still pursue that learning.  So I give thanks for this series.  Thank you.
