    has crappy cell service, and no available options like DSL or cable service.

    I have to have a land line because cell service at my home has become almost non-exsistent.  I might add that it used to be better than it is today.  I suppose there are just too many people using cell phones for the number of towers.  It doesn't help that we are on the side of a small mountain.

    I have a Verizon hot spot that is spotty in service at best but works better than the dial-up service which also is really crappy at times in addition to being slooooow.  Yes, I pay for two internet connections.  Plus, I pay for two land lines, so the main home phone line isn't tied up by being on the internet, and I can use the second line for faxing.  Actually, the daughter uses the second line for faxing because she works on the internet when and needs this when she visits, which is frequently.

    For crappy service, we pay an astronomical amount of money for phone (land and cell) and internet service.
