Frankly there's a lot of manipulation/hostility sowing between citizens and first responders by way of the media, and that's a great example.  This kind of crap keeps progressives from advancing their agenda IMO.

Again, the cultural considerations are really complex, complicated by the cessation of our 1st Amendment rights.  So the link above opens up a huge Pandora's box that frankly shouldn't/can't be addressed until we get a whole bunch of other stuff cleaned up.

I don't think it's helpful to speculate about the other firefighters.  It's a culture you know nothing about.

What the firefighter wrote or what Pierce wrote?

Well, we'll just have to wait and see, won't we? Not like it's going to be a secret either way.

Barack Obama: So morally bankrupt that he thinks people who tortured other people to death should get a pass. Likes to prosecute whistleblowers and pot smokers, though.

I don't agree with what the captain said.  I didn't read the Esquire article, but have seen other coverage of it.

"Well, we'll just have to wait and see, won't we? Not like it's going to be a secret either way. "

No, actually it will continue to be a secret.  It's a major societal problem, the fact that our (and police) culture remains hidden from view.  Rachel Maddow's new book about how the military has been isolated from mainstream society sounds very astute from what I've heard her say about it, and I feel the same things apply to domestic public safety personnel.

Again, the dynamics are really complicated, and outsiders really can't zoom in on one particularly inflammatory nugget and commence a reasonable discussion from there.

They will either stand behind him and swear up and down he is not a racist or they will not. That won't be a secret.

Oh yes we can. You can choose to denounce talk like that or you can make excuses for it. And you've made your position clear.
