  •  Tuesday, which isn't Monday (20+ / 0-)

Jeers to being self-employed and paying quarterlies, so that even if you got a refund (I did!), you never see it - it just makes your first quarterly smaller.

Jeers to the tree chipper down the street.  I think they're feeding it rocks.

Cheers to being finished with the gross thing I mentioned yesterday, which was a 24-hour urine capture.  I used an unbelievable amount of water, soap and towels.

Pity for my busted little city.  People getting shot on the street don't even get large print in the paper any more, and last night in the mayoral debate the big issue was this:

"...Monday night's mayoral debate veered often into the realm of race and social inequities and ended with a final question on who can best operate a black heritage center."  (From the News Journal)

I'm in the suburbs now, but I would like to drive down 25th Street and see our old house (is the garden still there?  Did they ever do something about the wallpaper upstairs - three colors of cabbage roses, one to each room?) without young entrepreneurs running to my car windows to offer their wares, because why else would white people come down there? Or worse, seeing the ambulance and cops down the street, and realizing there's been another shooting, this one on my Aunt Mildred's old lawn.

Everything must change, but I wish the mayoral candidates would try and face facts.
