  •  I don't think Ann Romney is as likable... (11+ / 0-)

as they think she is.  There seems to be an attempt at myth making here - like if they say it enough than it will become so.  She's a sheltered woman who is worth 300M who unwinds by riding million dollar horses.

If you've ever worked at a country club, or belong to one, you've met Ann Romney many times over.

    •  Sheltered is putting it mildly... (7+ / 0-)

after all, it was she who said she "doesn't feel rich." Good grief, what a stupid statement. She's so out of touch she doesn't even realize it!

Just another faggity fag socialist fuckstick homosinner!

    •  I don't see the connection between "WOW!" (5+ / 0-)

and Ann Romney. It's one thing not to work for money outside of the home, but quite another for a woman of her wealth to not engage in philanthropy for at least one or two uncontroversial causes (I'm thinking of Laura Bush and literacy).  What does Ann Romney do to make the world a better place? What does she care about other than money and spending that money on self-indulgent pursuits ?

The unknown crisis of unridden horses cries out for a champion.

And the workhorses - are they still in operation?

I mean, there's lots of things that can be done with un-ridden horses short of turning them into French cuisine, and Ann is just one of the people helping with this tragedy. Give a girl a break!

          •  Can't she at least get into rescuing horses? (2+ / 0-)

Seems to me it's a logical extrapolation of her interests - unless she only cares about the blue-blooded Warmbloods and no other kind of horse whatsoever.

Earth to Ann: there are also failed track Thoroughbreds in dire need of homes. A friend of mine, who has FAR less money than you, adopted one and is training him for ring jousting. He's getting good at it.

            If it's
            Not your body,
            Then it's
            Not your choice
            And it's
            None of your damn business!

ranches that have horses for disabled and mentally or emotionally challenged children to ride.

If she wants to extend that to all animals, there are plenty of shelters in this country that could use help.

Or she could fund a few children's riding programs, or FFA or 4H clubs (they do exist, you know).

Lots that could be done. Don't hear much about her doing any of it.

Now, to be fair, she might be. But somehow I doubt it.

I must've missed the memo explaining what her compelling appeal is supposed to be.  Maybe we're just supposed to be grateful that she's finally realized that we exist now that she has a use for us.

Many Palinites are working class and middle class moms who feel that they're finally being represented in the higher reaches of Washington (never mind that Patty Murray and others like her have been there for a long time).

When you shop at Walmart and consignment shops (and Palin IS on record as being a big consignment shop fan) you know darn well that you're buying the cast-offs of the Nieman Marcus crowd; and that many of them mock you behind your back.

I just don't see a lot of crossover here.

I despise Palin. I'm not a fan of her minions. But "all Republican women are the same" thinking is sloppy and inaccurate.

Plus, it's almost as insulting as the "all women suffer the same" meme that Ann tried to propound.

        •  I think that's a lot of it (1+ / 0-)

Palin had a working husband, and she was a working mom when she was mayor and governor. She didn't have a huge mansion, go to the finest schools, or have a ton of household help.

That really was her appeal. She was like a lot of other women. Shopped like them, had a lot of the same concerns, in many ways mirrored their lives.

Ann Romney is NOTHING like those women. Not even on the same planet.
