Sigh.......so sad.  My grandmother spent her entire lifetime living in El Paso county and working for the Democratic party.  She raised me after my mom died.  I remember her on election days calling her call list and asking if they had voted, do you need someone to come and get you and give you a ride?  She passed away 7 months before they elected Salazar.  She would have been exstatic!  My blue roots go so deep though I run around Colorado Springs probably trampling all over REDS with my blue attitudes.  Two sets of my great grandparents settled the area.  I'm a pioneer there.  I'm a blue rooted blueblood, all the rest of those red idiots are transplants......I will not lose sight of the dream that it can't one day be blue, or at least purple!!!
      •  I grew up in Colorado (none)
In Denver and Grand Junction, to be exact.  The kind of Colorado Republican that I'm used to is the old libertarian kind that believed that government was best for us when it was small, unobtrusive, and paid for.
These current transplants, and there are a lot of them, are of the religious, corporatist bent.

        •  I'm friends with the GOP chair of Summit County (none)
and he fucking hates the rightwing religious nuts.  Hates 'em.  I was surprised at how much he hates them, because it was right up there with my own disdain.

Colorado is going to go blue.  The fundiefucks are at the peak of their influence, and its all downhill for those assholes from here on as long as we are the party of Freedom and Liberty.

    •  We are making some progress... (none)
For the first time ever we had a Democratic Senate Campaign headquarters in El Paso County (county of Colorado Springs). I volunteered for Sen. Salazar's Campaign in Colorado Springs and I was personally suprised to see the amount of support and manpower we were able to assemble. Granted, much of that support came from the local left-leaning college, but we had a fair amount of locals turn out as well. In the end, the Republican candidate took the county easily, but we made ourselves heard.
