  •  The 21st is in some ways like the 18th. (6+ / 0-)

Remember the 18th, folks? Randy Hopper? Though Wangaard has no scandal, a couple of the larger employers in the district are a prison and a state university. Although Hopper's scandal was a big factor, the large number of state employees is ultimately what did him in. The same will be true for Wangaard in the 21st. Though UW Parkside is actually just outside the district by a few hundred yards, I am pretty sure more faculty and staff live in Racine than Kenosha (why? I don't know - I like Kenosha better).

I am pretty sure Lehmann will prevail. I am shocked that Seidel isn't doing better. I love Lori Compass, but we realists all knew that was the most uphill battle.

    •  What is the University in the 21st? (0+ / 0-)

I am pretty sure there isn't one. There is one in the district to the south of 21. UW Parkside.

Farm boy who hit the city to go to college, WI-03 (home, voting), WI-02 (college), -7.88, -4.26, 6/5/2012- the day the great error of Wisconsin history will be corrected!

As I said, UW Parkside is just outside the district, but it is one of the largest employers of people living in the district.

At least 2/3 of the Parkside faculty and staff I know live in Racine County, which makes no sense to me. With Case and Rainfair and so many other Racine employers having shed jobs in the last cuple decades, many of the largest employers of Racine residents are now in Milwaukee or Kenosha Counies. Racine is a dying city, one of two in southern Wisconsin, along with Beloit. The commuter train could have helped, but that ain't happening. So sad, since Racing has a nice downtown and lakefront and many nice, hardworking people who would love to have a job without leaving or making a long commute. All of which has nothing to do with why so many Parkside faculty choose Racine over Kenosha. Housing costs maybe? You can get a helluva nice house in Racine for very little money.
