  •  Mitt Doesn't Care About This..... (6+ / 0-)

The strategy he used in the primaries was negative ads.  He'll do it again.  That's where he's going to put his money.  He blitzed both Gingrich & Santorum that way.

Santorum held him off for a while, but eventually Mitt prevailed.  Luckily, we have lots of ammo....ad wise.

Mitt's flip flopping makes for honest ads.  We just play back his history & that of his primary opponents telling the truth about Mitt.

I'm sure the Obama campaign has lots of good ones in the can.  That plus our GOTV campaign bodes well for us & for the President.

    •  A phone call is worth 20 ads (10+ / 0-)

I agree Mittens will go negative and go big negative on the airwaves, but this is how Obama counters Romney's big money advantage.  You can convince a lot of people with those negative ads, but if they sit on their butts on election day while we are calling and knocking on doors to make sure our people get out, that's how you win.

    •  I don't have numbers on the effect of ads (6+ / 0-)

However, I think that 538's number is accurate to a rough order of magnitude.

The other thing about Rombot's strategy was that Gingrich, Santorum, et al, were less well known than Obama. It's going to be a hard sell to most undecided voters that Obama is going to really screw things up. Either they think he has, in which case they probably aren't undecided; or they think he has not, in which case negative ads will have less effect.
