    ....they were allowed to continue because everyone in the Music Biz admired them....having them on your label was a honor and a prestige

    Popular taste was just as shitty in the 1960's as today.

        indisputable thing about "then": there were a whole lot of people, musicians, who were about protecting the music, protecting and sheltering the muse, for whom it was all about Something Larger than the sum of the parts, or the means it may have provided to the end.
