if they just gave moms credit towards social security during the years they stay home with kids.  You really get screwed for retiremnet if you stay home.

Democrats should run with that idea of giving stay at home Moms Social Security credit.  Brilliant.  I can hear the Republicans try and talk around that one.

Sure, you can qualify for some programs if you're, you know, poor enough. (And then you might get drug tested, or the government might shut down the one clinic in your town.) But it shouldn't have to be only if you're desperate enough and in the "right" kind of way. If you're a mom raising kids and foregoing employment, you and your kids need health care. Period. There are some women out there who work just so they can get insurance for themselves and their children. Their whole paycheck might get sucked up in the cost of childcare, but at least they have insurance.

That's all kinds of f'd up right there.

        It's all a clusterf*ck.

Not only do we screw good people out of assistance, but I also wonder how many bright minds we throw away with this crappy system of institutionalized groin kicking?

to raise three kids while trying to get a fledgling business going we did not qualify for any healthcare help.  I had to purchase it and we went without it for a few years.  One of the factors in my remarrying was to get health care.  Your choices are very limited when health care is a concern.  You know, all the freedom from government stuff.  I ended up selling my business and staying home with my kids for 12 years.  I am screwed when it comes to ss.
