    is that it's the same folks running around with tricornered hats screaming about the integrity of the Constitution that are killing the Post Office -- on the grounds that a government-run postal service interferes with the operation of a free market.

    It never occurred to these yahoos to actually read the document they fetishize.  Article I, Section 8 gives Congress the power to "establish post offices and post roads."

    The Founders simply did not share the current rightwing's free market absolutism.  The dominant view among the Constitution's writers, in fact, held that the government should intervene -- massively at times -- in order to create a favorable business climate.
