And isn't this the same Mitt Romney who rented a guest house and created a business so his wife could take participate in the equestrian sport of dressage? (They lost $77,000 on the business in 2010, by the way.)
It sounds like a hobby, not a business trying to make money.  That can get to be a dicey distinction, but you're not supposed to deduct money you 'lose' on a hobby.

We're all pretty strange one way or another; some of us just hide it better. "Normal" is a dryer setting.

Mittens is just that much smarter than the rest of us.

My father came from a very poor family and was obsessed with moving up in the world.  As just one example, we never took a family vacation w/o him figuring a way to claim it as a business trip, much to my middle-class mother's annoyance.

When she expressed skepticism about the morality or legality of his actions, he would accuse her of naivete, telling her, "This is the way the world works."

He took it too far in some kind of deal with some guys from the New York Bank for Savings about whom my mother had serious misgivings.  He didn't listen to her, and in the end it was he who was investigated by the FBI and he who lost a professional license for which he had worked very hard.

Sorry to go OT on you, but people like Mittens remind me of some very skeezy individuals who always get away with their sh#t.
