  •  It is certainly more than that (0+ / 0-)

if only because to do the job right, you do have to know what the actual law is, and frequently part of the job is not just convincing the decision making body to decide in your favor, but also to make sure they comply with the correct procedures so the decision stands up.  It's very much like compliance work.

However, the fact of the matter is that just about ever project of more than minor significance in California involves a land use lawyer (or should) in order to make sure it's done right.  So, given the fact that this is totally normal practice  to do, it is disingenuous to try to turn this into a political point, any  more than it would to announce over sinister music that Romney uses * gasp*  an ELECTRICIAN! to do his electrical work or * shock! * a TAX ACCOUNTANT!  OMG Hair on fire!!!!

    really, people?

In any event, what we have here is a question of whether we're going to ascribe to a standard of accuracy that doesn't do a lot of distortion for cheap but misleading political points (my position), or are we going to basically do just what the republicans do with their repeated distoritions and inaccuracies.

If we aren't going to aim for a standard of accuracy, then we should just have a big cup of STFU when complaining about inaccuracies and distortions by the MSM or Fox.
