specifically made it legal for people to draw on others out in the open and not on their property, when those persons were no threat to the gun owner. I got an answer that said there was some case where someone got off free for having a gun, and so claimed it as one example of "case law". Sigh.

Today, strive to be the person you want to be.

application of the law is a huge problem in this country.

The correct solution is rarely to remove laws that protect against false prosecution and impose more draconian laws on citizens; after all, is there any reason to think that the new, more oppressive, legal regime would be any more impartially applied?

a more liberal to the standing his ground shooter law than Florida's, open carry laws,   etc.   One backwards town even passed an ordinance requiring people to own guns.

aggravated assault, which is what brandishing a gun at someone usually amounts to?

It's one thing to say, "no one would ever prosecute this, especially with ethnic group X as the perpetrator and X ethnic group as the victim", and it's another to say, "there's a law that permits this".

One is a problem with law enforcement, the other a problem with the law itself.
