Stuff that is cheap if you live out in the boonies where you can buy 50 lb sacks gets quite pricey in town.

I don't know where I'd store such things without them going bad, or drawing bugs. Florida, old trailer... it's a constant battle against ants and roaches getting in and getting into food. This is why I don't buy rice in bulk, I can't store it, I don't have the room for large seal-able containers. I have my rice stored in those tupperware cereal containers, same with the cereal, sugar, flour, pasta etc. And even so, if someone doesn't close it right, there goes the whole lot.

And a lot of trailers only have enough "yard" to swing open the front door.

In a better world, everyone with a yard bigger than a ping pong table would have a fruit tree.

any cellar here would quickly become a muddy swimming pool.
Too close to sea level and the water table is too high. We actually have a small yard, but, if you try and plant anything the lawn guys the park hires will just mow over it, unless you also have the money for bricks or something to surround it with. There are actually two fruit trees in this park, both oranges, and neither one mine (sighs). We have a birch tree, a small one. Used to have two, but lost one to a tropical storm a couple of years back, it started leaning too far and they cut it down before it hit the trailer. Most of the yard is made up of the concrete driveway anyway, don't have a car, but the kids use it as a chalk board.

        Stay out of Publix supermarkets!

        •  I have trouble getting to those. (0+ / 0-)

The closest one is only for a few hours on Saturdays, and in the more expensive part of town, so prices are higher. We do have a smaller asian market close by that has some better deals, Caedy walks up to it on occasion. And no, we don't go to Publix, too expensive. Mostly BJ's and Winn Dixie with a few things at Walmart (unfortunately).

Brown Turkey, Black Mission, not Magnolia.  Do the redneck planter of putting a tire around it.

If we were planning on staying here. But we're looking to move further north near my mom.
