  •  They run them in NE Ohio all the time (6+ / 0-)

They've been engaged in a big push in this area to run other cancer groups out of business.  They've put several out of business already and have nearly decimated the local American Cancer Society.  Breast cancer support services in our area have taken a huge hit as a result.

They're losing money and pubic support, but like any corporation, they respond by spending millions on advertising and by using predatory practices to eliminate the competition.

They have a new push going to "create" new services for breast cancer patients across the U.S.  Unfortunately, its not "new", its a watered down service that used to be performed by other breast cancer organizations, until Komen ran them out of business.

Watch out. These expensive ad buys mean they're targeting the local breast cancer groups in your area, if they haven't gotten rid of them already.

I suppose I should do a diary on this.  I personally know a great deal about this latest effort they're launching, as the organization I belong to was their first target.

This isn't a new program, its a poorly funded, poorly organized replacement for at least 3 different community based programs (two of them run by the American Cancer Society) that were killed off by Komen.

Note, they're planning to take it "nationwide".

Remember, they consider those ads about Nancy Brinker to be "education" and "raising awareness".
