working retail recently. Not crazy about the idea, but they were the only people who have called me back after a couple months of submitting resumes and applications!

Anyway, today, I was at the checkout. The thing I like about the job is working with people so I try to be friendly and perhaps chatty, depending on the response I get. I was admiring some clothes a woman had picked out. One item was a gorgeous green summer dress. A few items later was a cute pair of pink summer sandals. "Ooh! Are you wearing these together?" I asked. She got a sheepish grin, "They'd be cute on somebody else." What? "I just don't have the confidence to pull that look off," she says. "Oh, no, you have to wear them!" I insisted. We talked briefly about self-image and how hard it is to get over. She was maybe late 30s/early 40s and cute. She would have rocked the bold colors. I hope I gave her a little push to at least try it.

Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. --Mark Twain
