  •  Quilts, I'm sorry to hear of your retirement, but (1+ / 0-)

I understand.  I am four years away from being able to retire.  I don't want to, but I would if I could.

I have a student teacher right now, and I find it hard to be positive.  I want to scream, "What are you thinking?"

I am in tears as I read this post. The venom spewing in our direction is hard to take.  My heart breaks for my fellow teachers; my heart breaks for my students.

    •  Same here. Retirement is delayed (0+ / 0-)

with years of no raises and now reduced take-home pay.  And spouse is going on 70 but doesn't dare retire, as my income declines so rapidly in real dollars, plus we have to keep helping our unemployed and underemployed kids in Walker's Wisconsin.  And one is a student teacher, so we try to not discourage her with her enthusiasm for the job -- as we hope that she gets a job for fall. . . .

But as soon as we can, we will follow the kids who already have left the state -- because even if the recall wins, it will take at least a decade to reverse the legislation and the impact of Walker's devastation.  And at our age, we can't wait that long to live in some peace again, without these constant attacks on us and what we do and have tried to do for our Wisconsin, all of our working lives.  So it goes, and so we're going to be gone as soon as we can go.

Your family is a prime example of the pain the right wingers have brought on people who work hard, follow the rules, and are now getting kicked in the teeth.

It isn't enough to blame the poor people for "stealing" their taxes; now, they are coming after public workers.  Apparently our labor and services mean nothing.
