  •  how to fight their TV ads: (12+ / 0-)

Make one ad that's the opposite of slick: One person speaking directly to the camera in front of a pleasant outdoor background, and "vaccinating" the viewers against the deluge of slick Koch ads, starting roughly as follows:

"This election season you are going to see a flood of slick ads paid for with out-of-state money, to scare you into voting No on the repeal of the Emergency Manager law.  Those ads will use dramatic music, paid actors, and slick tactics to get you to vote against your own interests."

    and ending roughly as follows:

"I'm (name) from the Yes on Repeal (or whatever it's called) campaign here to urge you to vote YES on the repeal, to preserve your right to vote for your city government.   We don't have wealthy out-of-state backers, so you won't see this ad very often.  But remember: Your right to vote is at stake.  Vote Yes on the Repeal."

Run it occasionally.  Back it up with all the usual GOTV and volunteers handing out flyers in public places.  Keep on message about the slick Koch ads and so on, to vaccinate people against that stuff.  The goal is to nullify the effect of Koch money as far as possible.  Spread 'em thin and make 'em waste their dough.

"Minus two votes for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.
