  •  So here's the message the SBC is sending (9+ / 0-)

to the world: the Southern Baptist Convention officially sanctions violence against women and gays, and objects to safeguards that would make sure LGBT folks get help if they become victims of domestic violence.

I'm sure they can even back that position up with Bible verses (taken out of context of course).

The "political arm" part is what really bothers me. I hope the "political arm" pays taxes.

No offense to my Southern friends, but sometimes I think it would have been better if we had stayed neighbors rather than cousins.

my Bible seems to be missing some verses:

"Love one another* as I have loved you."

*unless the other is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender in which case this clause is invalid.

      •  Yes, and don't forget what Jesus says (0+ / 0-)

to introduce that law, and it IS a law:

"I give you a new Commandment: Love one another as I have loved you. "

There are many, many devout Christians of many denominations who take that seriously, and without exception. Of course, these Christians don't get much press--they don't seek it. It's called humility. Another great Christian virtue which the fundies don't seem to understand.
