      You have to raise the minimum wage enough that children don't suffer. That's all. Instead of all the programs you mentioned, we need one--a living wage.

        We also need universal, affordable healthcare. That means a publicly-funded program where all essential healthcare is paid for by the government out of a progressive tax. That would include childen by default and replace CHIP.

          I think I mentioned that in my other comments. This isn't intended to be taken in a void. It's a quid pro quo, where we reduce aid to the "poor" in exchange for a higher minimum wage because when wages go up there's less need for direct assistance. But yes, 100%, we need affordable, universal healthcare, which to me means at least a publicly-funded plan. (I've written about that so widely that I don't think I need to put it all here.)
