I'll use it next time someone hauls out the 47% argument. I also make the point (see above a few comments) that 22% are seniors who paid income tax for decades and are now on fixed incomes. No skin in the game? Really? And another big chunk are working college students. So we should make them pay income taxes because their student loans aren't crippling enough? The remaining percentage who pay no income tax are just too poor.

So, yes! Make sure the minimum wage is a living wage so those folks earn enough to pay income tax. Brilliant!

      if you don't have skin.

More importantly, we should strike back at the notion that only people with monetary interest in the system should be allowed to 'play'.

Conservatives need to realize that their Silent Moral Majority is neither silent, nor moral, nor a majority.

heading down to the elementary school playground to shake some of those 47%ers for their lunch money. But I can modify to the retirement home, too.

"You want skin in the game? Since when did food stamps give anyone a free pass to not pay gas tax, sales tax, or payroll taxes? There's your skin in the game."

How does the Republican Congress sit down with all the butthurt over taxing the wealthy?

In this case though, if I'm using this line of rhetoric I wouldn't point out that 22% number right away.  That would be arguing against myself.  "Half of America is so underpaid they can't afford income taxes" is a stronger argument than "Well it's really only 25% who can't pay it." You see what I mean?
