    Delusions like teabaggery originate from an emotional state. They are an attempt to describe and understand the world as experienced through a certain flavor of emotional filter.

    Per this hypothesis, a teabagger might begin to allow more reality into his worldview if his emotional state could be improved. If we want to influence the 'baggers, we could start by fostering greater emotional trust between us.

      making society more nurturing and less dog-eat-dog?  Not while there are people profiting from having so many people mired in self-defeating delusions.  

      It is really pretty appalling what has happened over the last 30 years to make life less productive and enjoyable and rewarding for most people.  And it wasn't by accident.  More and more we are rewarding predators and punishing ordinary people, but they are so delusional they can't see it.

      The scientific uncertainty doesn't mean that climate change isn't actually happening.
