    SS needs the smallest of tweaks to be  made solvent for 75+ years. You are not speaking to the economics of the issue but rather beating a tired,noisome RW drum. Off key.

      My comments were about how longer lifespans changes the economics of Social Security and used the period from 1940 to 1990 using data from Social Security to illustrate that.

      In a pay as you go system, understanding how demographic changes, changes in work patterns, longer lifespans, etc., are fundamental to understanding solutions to this critical government program.

      The most important way to protect the environment is not to have more than one child.

        was fairly well addressed in the 1980's.That is why anyone born after 1938 doesn't reach FRA until after age 65,why the Trust Fund was built & why the benefits paid to early retirees is proportionally reduced. Clearly,changing demographics are neither a surprise nor unplanned for.
        Again,various & fairly innocuous tweaks could be implemented to ensure SS solvency for perpetuity.

        Good to know that you support Social Security as it is indeed a critical government program.
