    which is now the all-time all-time high, until next year.

    Or do you think that Roger Bannister did not run a four-minute mile in 1954 just because of the others who broke his and each other's records later, up to Hicham El Guerrouj, the current men's record holder with his time of 3:43.13? Are all of the sports records that have since been broken invalid for when they were achieved?
