more fair minded people who support civil rights and protections for all peoples!

Many straight people know gay people and are fine with their lifestyle and believe that the gay people need the same rights as everyone else.

So I don't think that it will only be gays who will be offended by this firing and the bullying of the rabidly bigoted religious reich and see this as a continuation of the culture wars.

You have to search high and low to find someone who isn't impacted by the rabid culture wars that are going on right now; against gays, against women, against immigrants.....

I think that the rabid right is going to jump the shark soon; there is no one who is as pure as they are, nor might I say, as hateful.

Bottom line:  I think our side will more than gain by this firing and the gloating over the firing.  It would make a great commercial.

going back 3 decades. Yes, that may be changing, but it's a verrry close thing. If Romney is thisclose to making this Presidential election tight, and we are in danger of losing the Senate and not retaking the House--all possible, and even likely, results--then we are far away from knowing who will gain by it.

generations who find this anti-gay stuff nonsense.

I hope that the anti-gay folks are dying out....and those in FoxBot world you can't reach anyway, so let's hope we can out vote them.

Long term, you're right. I'm 50 this year; not much long term left, given that my entire adult life has been spent under Republican/conservative yokes.

      •  Take a look at what's going on (0+ / 0-)

in NC -- the anti-gay Amendment 1 is far closer than one would expect in a place like that where it should have been considered a slam dunk. Granted much of the opposition is because it's so badly written that it's going to affect more than just gays, but quite a bit of it is due to a fear of a "gay brain drain" especially in the high-tech area around Research Triangle Park.

And there is still a major question mark how much support Romney will get from the Religious Right, who may decide to stay home rather than vote for a non-Christian (by their lights, the LDS Church is a cult).
