and the good feelings from the ecstasy help to take the pain away from the memories
Isn't XTC speed based though? Speed is the last thing I need.

    •  Not as I understand it (4+ / 0-)

Sometimes it is cut with speed (pills), but pure MDMA in crystal form is not.

pure MDMA is a form of amphetamine.  It's often cut with speed because speed is cheaper and helps enhance the high.

taking it in its purest form is a much different experience than cut. The 'come down' is much more pleasant, the morning after even better.

on meth your up for days paranoid as hell when on a binge.  On x your just taking your clothes off and rubbing people for a few hours.

But the two are closely related.

Another factor is that e is much, MUCH, harder to manufacture then meth.  Any jackass can cook up a huge batch of meth.  You have to know what you're doing, or know a much more connected drug dealer probably even organized crime related and into far nastier stuff than drug dealing to get your hands on bulk X.  That requires an actual lab to make and access to several key components that are closely monitored by the DEA.

Your average bulk meth dealer is a chuckle fuck, your average bulk X dealer is high level organized crime.

            •  eh...it's an upper like acid is (2+ / 0-)

              Don't do acid, Horace.

I did half a tab of X and found it to be very mild...but then again, when I was in college acid was also very mild.

You'll be up for hours, either way, but half a tab of X will let you sleep sooner than a tab of weak acid.  In my experience.  YMMV.

I don't do either one of them anymore, though.  Learned what I needed to learn and stopped.

MDMA is not really anything like other things.  You can't just call it an "upper" because it has the word "Amphda" in there.

It's actually a pyschedelic hybred.  There's lots of studies that show it positive affects on people with PTSD.  See MAPS for more information.

It has a bit of that LSD zing to it, that's all.  And that, I suggest, is why people are saying it's like meth.

It ain't like meth.  Not at all.

I don't like speed -- I don't DO speed -- but there are certain substances that are kind of "speedy" and acid is one of them.

To a lesser extent, X is another.

    •  History of Ecstasy (2+ / 0-)

According to popular history the drug, first discovered in 1912, was developed by the German pharmaceutical giant Merck as a lucrative way to suppress the appetites of soldiers in the German army - a plot foiled by reports of bizarre side effects among the first human guinea pigs. Merck, the story goes, was forced to withdraw the compound and consigned it to the pharmaceutical scrap heap, where it lay until resurrected by 1970s drug guru Alexander Shulgin.
The company did develop the drug in 1912, but the appetite suppressant story is an urban myth, passed on from source to source through "uncritical copy-paste procedures". Instead, documents from the time show that ecstasy emerged during the company's efforts to develop a potentially life-saving medicine that would help blood to clot.
The Merck archive suggests one of its scientists may have administered the first human tests in 1959.
By now, others had picked up the baton and run with it. A year later, in 1960, the first official recipe for ecstasy appeared in a scientific journal (in Polish) and by 1970 MDMA was cropping up in tablets seized in Chicago.

Dr Shulgin, a former scientist with the chemical company Dow, says he was told about the compound in the early 1970s. He synthesised the drug in 1976 and later tested it on himself - the first recorded human trials.

It is worth reading the whole story.
