a hell-worthy offense according to their website, and there's a page reflecting the opinion of the pastors that claims much the same about effeminate straight men.

Also, spanking as scriptual is in their Articles Of Faith. The same one that suggests virginal celibate gay men are banned from heaven.

So really, he's just sorry about the extent of physical correction he was advocating, since everything else is right there in the document every member of the church has to accept in order to fulfill the covenant requirements of membership as spelled out elsewhere on the church website.

Of course they didn't think he was joking! Everyone with church membership there has attested homosexuality is hellworthy and a smack on the rear is a proper parental response to things that make one hellbound just to join!

Prayers and best wishes to those in Japan.

as I posted in a comment elsewhere earlier today:

From Section 8, on the church and the role thereof, the three paragraphs most relevant to this situation (emphasis mine):

         g. Intimacy: We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman (Gen. 2:24; Gen. 26:8-9; 1 Cor. 7:1-16; Heb. 13:4). We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex (Gen. 19:5,13; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1:26-29; 1 Cor. 5:1; 6:9; 1 Thess. 4:1-8). We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman (Gen. 2:24; Mk. 10:6-12; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 7:10). We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society (Deut. 6:4-9). The husband is to love the wife as Christ loves the church (Eph. 5:21-33). The wife is to submit herself to the Scriptural leadership of her husband as the church submits to the headship of Christ (Eph. 5:22-23; Phil 2:10, 11).

          i. Parenting Responsibility: Children are an heritage from the Lord (Ps. 127:3-5). Parents are responsible for teaching their children spiritual and moral values and leading them, through consistent lifestyle example (Col. 3:18-21; 1 Pet. 3:1-7) and appropriate discipline, including Scriptural corporal correction (Prov. 19:18; 22:15; 23:13-14; Eph. 6:1-4).

          [...]

          k. Civil Authority: We believe that civil government is of Divine appointment for the interests and good of human society and that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored (Matt. 10:10; 22:21; Rom. 13:17; 1 Peter 2:17), and obeyed (Titus 3:1; 1 Peter 2:13-14) except in things opposed to the Word of God - the Bible (Ex. 18:21, 22; 2 Sam. 23:3; Psalms 72:11; Acts 4:19, 20; 5:20; 23:5; Rev. 10:16).
