  •  Surprising to learn that J.T. Ready (4+ / 0-)

converted to the Mormon faith. That doesn't seem like a typical decision for a Nazi. Is Mormonism indirectly related to Arizona right-wing politics?

The theological changes that permitted other races to join as actual members with the full standing thereof are relatively recent. Interracial relationships are still a point of contention, if I understand what I've read properly.

And it's a religion that trends towards having a LOT of spin-off groups. I wouldn't be surprised if there were groups that split over the 'who can hold priesthood (basic level of membership, males early teens and up only), whites only or all men?' question that would look VERY welcoming to a white supremecist.

Prayers and best wishes to those in Japan.

that was in the news in recent years for being raided by the Feds and whose leader was Warren Jeffs, was headquartered in Colorado City, Arizona. A fair number of Mormon splinter groups moved down to Arizona (and points south...-coughRomneyscough-) when the LDS government of Utah discontinued the polygamy thing under pressure from the US government.

The last time the Republicans were this radical, they were working to elect former slaves to Congress. What a difference a century and a half makes!
