      only reversed (with a Democratic President up for re-election).

      I spent that entire campaign certain that President Bush would be defeated by large numbers of Democrats who remembered how Vietnam ended up and wanted something different to come of Iraq and Afghanistan.

      Boy oh boy, was I ever wrong.

      I think that the Republicans are going to be similarly disappointed come November this year.

      They have a lack-luster candidate which too many of their base don't just "not like", but almost loathe, mainly it appears due to his religion, but also because he is stained by his Massachusetts healthcare plan which vaguely resembles the PPACA, not to mention his inability to stick to a story on, well, anything.
