I know what it feels like to be the smartest person in the room, and it's both lonely and exhilarating at the same time.
But then again, I'm one of those lazy snobby academics, lol. You know, the kind that works 50hrs on a slow week and stays up until 2 in the morning grading. The kind that the right wing will put in the cattle cars if they ever get full power.

WTF!?!?!?! When did I move to the Republic of Gilead?!

as president!  Holy shit, I look around this country and the world and I know that I wouldn't have the first damn clue how to fix things.  I too have had a lot of experience with being the smartest person in the room, and I will tell you, I about lost it when one of my co-workers, during the 2008 campaign, burbled enthusiastically of Sarah Palin, "She's just like us!"  When I recovered enough to speak, I replied, "The only way she's just like us is that none of us is qualified to run the country!"

Not putting idiots in charge is step one.

        I disagree completely.
It should be an easy thing to set national goals, clearly communicate strategies to reach those goals, and ensure that all citizens understand the likely effects and what efforts are demanded of them.

        Good policy is good politics.
