    One could argue that this is a freedom of religion issue under the 1st amendment, but I don't see any relevance to the 14th amendment here.

      and I donate to are associated in any way with any religion (thus no necessity for Freedom of Religion to be invoked), Equal Protection provides the security that we can each donate to opposite sides of the same issue with the same assurance and opportunity to take full advantage of a tax deduction, as long as both charitable funds meet the same requirements.

      But those requirements for the charitable fund that I donate to do not include whether you would consider my chosen cause to be "truly needy" of my donation, and vice versa.

      It seems curiosity has killed the cat that had my tongue.
