  •  Agreed. Just remember this: (19+ / 0-)

The best political team in modern politics (Axelrod and Plouffe) who took on and defeated a legacy candidate four years ago, and the most skilled campaigner since Bill Clinton (Obama), have been planning this campaign against SPECIFICALLY Mitt Romney since November 2008. Romney has been the presumptive 2012 nominee since Obama was declared president elect on November 4, 2008.

Literally every move, IMO, that he's taken in the last 3 years was with an eye toward Romney.

This is the moment Team O has been planning for for four freakin years. And if that doesn't scare the bejesus out of the GOP, there hopeless.

Only one thing I don't think Team O planned on: that the GOP would be so far right as it is today and that the GOP primary would be the clusterfuck it was and force Romney to adopt hard right stances publicly. But. Bonus!

    •  Well, that was one thing (6+ / 0-)

that nobody could have predicted (seriously), but as you said "Bonus!").

We have a lot to thank Rick Santorum for, and Bryan Fischer for that matter.

I think pundits and analysts are going to spend a lot of time trying to figure just what went wrong for the GOP this year. Much of it, I suspect, has to do with the fact that all of the "adults" in the GOP decided fairly early on that they didn't want to spend a fortune (both cash and political capital) beating their heads against the Romney juggernaut which they new would have hundreds of millions of dollars to bring to bear against them.

This left a handful of total wackjobs and losers (I'll let you decide which were which) to compete against Romney. Normally none of them would have any sort of chance (they never did anyway) but Romney's inherent weaknesses kept them in the fray longer than even they expected and resulted in the eventual shift in the dynamics as Romney ended up being forced to play to the right wing of his party, which is even now stabbing him in the back (thank you, again, Bryan Fischer).

That all said, we need to not allow over confidence to weaken us. It needs to be all guns blazing from now until November.

Give a Republican a fish and he'll think he learned how to fish. Teach him to fish and he'll call you socialist.

    •  It's going to be a very close election (9+ / 0-)

That should scare the bejeesus out of every liberal unless they want to get used to saying "President Romney" for the next four years.

      •  I'm not scared. And I don't think it will be (5+ / 0-)

a close election, in the end.

And yet, I will work my ass off anyway. Amazing, that.

I don't need to be scared shitless to be active politically or to rally others. And I don't plan to use a whole lot of fear when I;m out knocking on doors. This is about what we WANT together as a country.

        Forward.

      •  Great (0+ / 0-)
